History

ASTREC's goal is to eliminate the "language barriers" of the world and to realize free interaction between people on a global level. In order to achieve this goal, we promote the following based on the Global Communication Plan 2025 (March 31, 2020, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications):

• research and development of technologies to realize a practical simultaneous interpretation system that can be used for global businesses, conferences, etc., taking various sources of information such as context, speakers' intentions, and surroundings into account;
• expansion of the number of supported languages based on the government's policies on accepting foreign workers and their involvement with the community, as well as strategies on tourism; and
• social implementation of simultaneous interpretation systems that meet new social demands and various user interfaces, with an eye on the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
